What a week! Spymaster officially hit Alpha and the game is well on its way to all aspiring WW2 covert operators by the end of 2013. We haven't decided on any exact release date yet because lots of iterative work remains after the alpha build, and we simply refuse to release the game before we're happy with it.
Management & leveling up your spy roster, operations on European map level, missions in individual cities, constant cat & mouse chase by the Gestapo... the basic functions are all there now! Based on the alpha we'll be making big decisions on the experience as a whole, what works and what needs more dev love still.
In other news we finally found time to play one of my favorites, the board game Galactica - humans ftw! Although Spymaster will be a very different game, Galactica certainly gave us some new inspiration with its oppressive atmosphere of facing an overwhelming Cylon enemy and the distrust among human "operators".
Okay, we're now done with the cake and off for the weekend. Next week, me and Teemu will be at the Game Developers Conference Europe in Cologne. It's one of my favorite trade shows but this time I really can't wait to get back to working on the game. :)
Disclaimer: Game development is an iterative process where things tend to change many times over before the game ships. That's a fancy way of saying that we can't promise any exact features discussed in this blog.
