In the UI design of Spymaster we're pondering how to get some of that feel of sending orders to your agents on the field. We don't want to make interacting with the game hard or complicated, but also just moving a guy from A to B doesn't feel meaningful enough.
Here's one of the current suggestions on our table:
When, for example, you decide to move an operative from A to B, there might be multiple options on how to do so. Maybe you'd normally go by train but this particular trip is so important that you should call in an expensive air lift?
We don't want to take you away from your map, the heart of your strategy, so pop-up dialogs are out of the question. So what about a sidebar instead? It could be themed like a paper form that will be physically sent to the operative via your secret communication channels. We're even toying with using swipes and other emotes to actually send the paper instead of the PC era buttons.
After receiving your orders the agent will try to fullfil this assignment as well as they can, but that's another blog post for another time :)
